Our academic programme is designed to enable pupils to fully realise their academic potential by becoming successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens. It is also designed to equip pupils with the skills and qualities needed to meet the challenges of life in a fast-changing world. Breadth and balance are important features of our curriculum design. The school’s curriculum is guided by the CBSE Curriculum and we regularly review and update the curriculum, implementing initiatives that best suit pupils of selective ability.
Foundational Stage
Pre Primary and Early Primary School (Nursery to Grade II)
The Pre-Primary Wing functions as an extension of home. The teaching is informal with specially designed aids to facilitate the psycho-motor skills of the little ones. At the Pre-Primary and early Primary years, the objective is to facilitate learning by creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for them to learn joyfully.
The focus is on learning by doing. Hence all learning is through play and pleasurable activities. They are exposed to the rich experiences of daily life and helped to learn Social behaviour and Proper Communication skills. Picnics, Educational tours, Outings and Nature walks, etc. help the tiny tots to increase their awareness of their environment and assist them in acquiring the skills of being independent and of standing on their own feet. Teaching Pedagogy is child centric and activity oriented using numerous teaching aids: Power Point, flashcards, pictures, puppets, actual objects, storytelling, dramatization and role play, etc. The endeavour is to involve the children in the discussions, gently guiding them, eliciting the right answers.
Preparatory Stage
Primary School (Grade III to V)
The Primary School aims to inculcate foundational knowledge in various subjects in our young students. The focus is on reading and writing, language comprehension, math, critical thinking and inter-personal skills. The key subjects are English, Hindi, mathematics, EVS, art & craft, computer science and physical education. A third language (German, French, Spanish, Sanskrit) is added in Grade 5. Computer Aided Learning through Smart Class and various other activities form an integral part of the teaching learning process. We also allocate periods for Value Education as well as for Environmental Education. Learning reinforcement is provided through worksheets in every subject, and activity based teaching.
Middle School (Grade VI to VIII)
The middle section aims to give a quantum jump to the knowledge assimilated in the foundation years and to further strengthen the basics of the student. Curriculum is focused on students and their wellbeing; it is structured to reduce pressure and increase interest and interactive learning. The curriculum also includes a range of extra-curricular activities that help students learn vital life skills and, importantly, enjoy their education.
The subjects included in the curriculum in the middle section are:
- Three languages, English and Hindi being compulsory and an addition language from out of Spanish, French, German and Sanskrit.
- Apart from the languages the other subjects are Social Science, Mathematics, Science and Computer.
We take resource to various strategies to make their stay in the school fruitful and educative.
A lot of emphasis is given to communication abilities. Activities to polish their oratory skills are held and children are encouraged to think out of the box and enhance their creative abilities.
Secondary School (Grade IX to XII)
The Secondary Stage will comprise of four years of multidisciplinary study, building on the subject-oriented pedagogical and curricular style of the Middle Stage, but with greater depth, greater critical thinking, greater attention to life aspirations, and greater flexibility and student choice of subjects. It is again subdivided into two parts: classes IX and X covering the first phase while classes XI and XII covering the second phase. These 4 years of study are intended to inculcate multidisciplinary study, coupled with depth and critical thinking. Students would continue to have the option of exiting after Grade 10 and re-entering in the next phase to pursue vocational or any other courses available in Grades XI - XII, including at a more specialized school, if so desired.
The right choice of stream and the decision to opt for the subjects suiting a student’s aptitude enables him/her to have brighter prospects in future. Right choice of stream can set the path of good higher education of student’s choice. School works to prepare confident young adults. School offers all the streams for providing a wider choice for the students of XI and XII giving them a comfort level in pursuing their dreams ahead Science, Commerce and Humanities streams for classes XI and XII.
Physical Education
Our mission at GD Goenka School, Sultanpur is to provide fully inclusive, enjoyable and intelligent Physical Education that achieves each student's physical potential, whilst developing self-confidence, sportsmanship and academic success. Our high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Our physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
